Powerplants

Power, Electricity, Steam, and Shaft Power, are required to operate various subsystems on a construct.
What exactly is "Power", if it's neither electrical or mechanical, nor steam? Not a clue. Probably some kind of hydraulic drive system, but nobody knows for sure. Not even the developers, so stop asking.

Whatever they are, Powerplants are the category of subsystems which are responsible for the generation of some -or all- of the above.

Powerplant Sources

These are a powerplant's starting point, and continuously consume a base resource in order to generate some kind of power. Aside of the RTG, these require some additional parts in order to do their thing, but those

Name Fuel > Output Notes
Otto Engine and Generator Otto Fuel > Hydraulic Power and/or Electricity Requires at least one connected Cylinder in order to function.
Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator Time > Electricity Yes, that's a joke. The "fuel" is built into the RTG from the start, and is thus included in the construction cost.
Batteries are required to store energy and use power generated by RTGs.
Steam Boiler Controller Materials > Steam Maximum rate of Steam generation depends upon the number of attached boiler drums. Without them, it does nothing.

Converters

These are components, or component assemblies, which convert one type of power into another.

Power converters
Name Conversion Conversion Ratios? Notes
Electric Motor Electricity > Hydraulic Power TBD Must be directly attached to a battery
Jet Generator Thrust > Hydraulic Power and/or Electricity TBD Are we converting thrust into power, or are we just making power instead of thrust?
Shaft Generator Shaft Power > Electricity TBD
Shaft Motor Hydraulic Power > Shaft Power TBD Commonly used to create Azipods.
Steam Piston Steam > Hydraulic Power and/or Shaft Power TBD Will only function properly when part of a Reciprocating Steam Engine component assembly
Steam Turbine Generator Steam > Electricity TBD
