"The Grand Ol'Gal, pride of the navy, most decorated ship on the face of neter, a true veteran. Generations of crewmen have served her, and the current captain, Admiral Kirktan, is the 5th of his family to have sailed her through the "soup". However it was his Grandfather who was immortalised by the Guernsey, as it was he who led her crew to mutiny twice, making her the only ship to do so. He sailed her to the heart of the city, blocking the river by beaching her in front of parliament to protest their plans on sending her to the breakers yard, a dishonourable and poor end to such a gilded ship. In the end, the public came to her rescue, finding solidarity with the crew and beginning riots until she was safe." - In-game description.

Construct overview (Guernsey v42)

An old battle-wagon dating back to... who knows, probably long before the split between the Steel Striders and the Onyx Watch, the Guernsey is an oddity among Steel Striders craft, being armed primarily with CRAM cannons. Specifically, she carries a mixed-calibre main battery of four 1600mm, and four 1000mm cannon, in two twin centreline turrets and four single wing turrets, respectively.
Complementing these hard-hitting but slow-firing weapons, she also carries sixteen casemate guns; four on either side of the hull, and four on either side of the superstructure. Lastly, there are two submerged torpedo tubes on either beam, with a respectable payload, and a range of 2,8km.

On the flip side, her great age leaves her with numerous weaknesses, being little more than a floating museum. For one thing, she seems to have been built at a time when aircraft were not yet considered

Trivia

  • As its in-game description suggests, the Guernsey is, or at least was, a rare example of a construct that remained virtually unchanged for a relatively long time, despite numerous tweaks and additions being made to the game mechanics. That's not to say that she hasn't been updated since she was added to the game, but even when she was finally overhauled, and overhauled so extensively that the game decided to record the builder who performed the overhaul as being the "original author" of the design, the end result is still, unmistakably, Guernsey.
  • She (or at least the original version of her), is (was?), according to the original author, inspired by british and german WWI-era dreadnought and pre-dreadnought battleships, possibly including the Nassau- and Lord Nelson-classes
